Fixed Income Investment

In USA and other such developed markets, the fixed income market is way bigger than the equity segment. However, in India the market per se is still in the nascent stage and if we may say, it has not developed as it should have been.

Traditionally, there are PSU bonds, fixed deposits, corporate deposits, tax free bonds to name a few. However, these days much of the traction has developed in the Secondary Bond Market. This is like the trading market for bonds, like we have for stocks. Herein, already purchased bonds are traded at a premium or discount as the case may be and thus have added a tons of options for the investors to invest into. However, these should not be confused with the returns that an investors gets in direct bonds or deposits.
